Centrifugal Pump is a hydraulic machine with a rotating part called Impeller.
CENTRIFUGAL PUMPS
Principle
Centrifugal Pump is a hydraulic machine with a
rotating part called Impeller. In this pump, mechanical energy is converted
into pressure energy by means of centrifugal force acting on the liquid. The
liquid enters the pump at the peripheral hub and leaves the casing radially.
Centrifugal
pumps may be classified as follows:
• According
to the Type of Casing:
1.
Volute Casing
2.
Vortex Casing
3.
Diffuser Casing
• According to the Number of Stages
1.
Single Stage
2.
Multi-Stage
• According to the Types of
Impellers
1.
Single Suction Impeller
2.
Double Suction Impeller
• According to the Shape of the Vanes (Blades)
of the Impeller
1.
Radial Flow Impeller
2.
Axial Flow Impeller
3. Mixed Flow Impeller
