There is a controversy that library should not be replaced with online learning. Library or digital version, whatever may be the kind, replacement is not the solution but the fusion of both can be the solution.

There are many advantages and disadvantages in online reading. One advantage is that the person reading electronic books need not travel anywhere. Stopping oneself from buying books will decrease its demand and thereby it saves paper. Just a tablet, internet connection and electricity are required to read soft copies of books or online newspapers. Libraries provide employment opportunities for the unemployed. Library facilitates meeting of people and socializing. 2/3 rd of American adults feel that library is a must in an area and closing the library will have a great negative impact.

There are some disadvantages. Maintaining library is very expensive and it occupies space. It does not go with the digital world.

Having a library with hard copies and soft copies of reading materials is a welcoming factor.

II. Students who study abroad achieve greater success or those who study at a local university achieve greater success.

Learning takes place inside and outside the classroom. We learn through classmates. We learn through friends. We develop business relationships and inter personal skills. Learning abroad gives an extra exposure to students. For example, the U.S. is a multi cultural place where the students can move with the Mexican, Spanish, German, Canadian, Asian and other Europeans. The students who read abroad learn many customs, beliefs and ethics.

Some students who have done their graduation and post graduation abroad have more chances of winning in competitive job market. It has been proven that 97% of students who study abroad find employment within 12 months of their graduation and post graduation.

Beyond college, students who study abroad will be better equipped to succeed in the workplace. This increased scope of knowledge allows 25% of students who study abroad to receive higher starting salaries. That is clear evidence that their experiences and views are valued by employers.

In spite of all these benefits, some parents simply do not allow their children to study abroad. Some students may feel homesick. Some parents may miss their children who are studying abroad. Some students may not cope with the syllabus and learning methodology abroad. Some parents may feel that it is not safe to study abroad because they may face racial discrimination. Studying abroad will have long-lasting, positive effects on a student's future as an academic and a professional. Studying abroad may throw the world of opportunities open to the students.

III. Loans Boon or Bane

People argue that without taking loans, it is difficult to develop. It is true in some cases and it is not true in some cases. By saving and multiplying funds, one can develop and one can feel financially secure. It is easy to take loan but it is difficult to repay since the principal amount is added with interest. The banks offer only a small percentage of interest in deposits whereas they charge one or two percent higher interest in loans. There are many loans such as personal loan, housing loan, educational loan, car loan, land loan and marriage loan. Whatever the kind of loan may be, it is wise to spend savings than to take loans on high interest.. Loan repayment leads to stress. The government seems to be kind and generous while giving loans. But the people should make judicious use of money.

Of course banks get their income through interest on loans. It is wise for the people to buy houses if they have already saved the needed money to at least 65%. If car is not a necessity, it is better to avoid car loan. It is better to take personal loan only in case of emergency. Taking loan for luxurious living should be avoided. Loans for self help group women can be utilized but it should not be wasted. There are many people who have been ruined by taking excessive loans. So everyone has to be careful before taking loan and after taking loan, repayment should be the first and foremost goal. To some extent, loan and development go hand in hand.

IV. Should college athletes be paid?

Sports have become popular at present. Talented sports persons get admission in schools, colleges and university. They are given government job opportunities as well. They are encouraged even by corporate. College athletes earn money in the form of grants, scholarships, free food, free medical care, travel perks, free boarding and lodging, free accessories necessary for athletics. Some people argue that paying them monthly is not necessary and they can use that fund for some small projects to encourage big success. The proponents or supporters of the idea feel that college athletes should be paid because they are the ones who receive rigorous training, spend their time in sports for the glory of the self and nation, they bring in audience and they sacrifice their life for athletics or sports. Zion Williamson, the Duke basketball superstar injured his knee and his continuation in athletics would harm him further and he had to discontinue pursuing his profession in sports. Sudden injury in sports may stop them from pursuing sports further and so it is necessary for them to be paid every month for sustenance.

Those who do not support this idea strongly believe that if the schools and colleges pay them monthly allowances, rich schools and colleges may attract the athletes and many institutions may be deprived of good athletes. If the rich institutions pay the athletes, it may instill a sense of envy in them. Jealousy may lead to many conflicts which may disturb the rate of success. Paying the athletes may stop smaller projects from getting funds. Moreover, NCAA is a non-profit organization. The athletes earn good amount of money out of advertisements like NIKE. Seeing the positives and negatives, the athletes and sports professionals should be paid with regard to their abilities to encourage the development of sports in a nation.

V. Write an essay of 300 words comparing the print media over the electronic media. Which do you find to be more effective? Support your arguments with necessary examples. Print Media Vs Electrinic Media

The word media conjure up images of newspapers, magazines, radio, television, and internet along with reporters and correspondents with their recording devices and cameras running after celebrities. There was a time when the world of media was dominated by newspapers, andthe owners of newspapers were moguls in their own right. The invention of radio and television opened up a world of possibilities and the media got divided into print and electronic versions. The recent emergence of the internet has added strength to electronic media in no uncertain terms. For those aspiring to make a career in the world of media, it is important to understand the differences between print media and electronic media. Let us take a closer look.

Print Media

For nearly a century, media was synonymous with print media as newspapers and magazines were the only sources of communication and for dissemination of information. Books, periodicals, newspapers etc were a great medium in the form of paper and text, printed using ink. People had very few means of entertainment and relied a great deal upon information provided by print media, to make opinions. People started their mornings with newspapers to get their daily dose of information from the world of politics, entertainment, sports, and about their city and the world at large. The information being in printed form, it is possible to carry newspapers to all places and read them anytime one desires. However, uneducated and illiterate people cannot make use of print media as they cannot read. In print media, reporters and writers have no face and they are behind the scenes, loving a life of anonymity. Print media is not available at all times and gets published at regular intervals so that one has to wait for the fresh edition to arrive in the market.

Electronic Media

Electronic media includes all mediums of sharing information that are not in print form. Therefore, radio, television, and the internet make up this form of media. People can listen on radio and see live pictures of events and calamities along with the comments, opinions, and remarks of correspondents and experts who are now in front of the camera and not behind the scenes. All this has made electronic media a much more powerful version of media as it has visual appeal and more convincing power. Live pictures can be very moving, turning the opinions of people much more easily than printed text. Electronic media, especially television, has been instrumental in taking not just information but also transforming the world of entertainment. With electronic media, we have 24 hours news channels beaming programs that are live. This means that one can get access to the latest breaking news anytime of the day and he need not wait till morning to know what happened last evening. Live telecast of events has made the world a small place to live in as people can enjoy sporting events being held thousands of kilometres away while being able to watch political summits and other important events. Who can forget the live images of Pentagon and World Trade Centre being attacked by terrorists on 9/11? Similarly, natural calamities are beamed right when they take place to all parts of the world making people aware of what bom brow edT is happening in remote corners of the world.

What is the difference between Print Media and Electronic Media?

Print media is the earlier of the two types of media, and it ruled the scene for nearly a century. Print media is available at regular intervals, and it is not possible to get to the fresh edition when one desires while electronic media is available 24X7 and one can get access to breaking news in all parts of the world through live pictures. One can get to electronic forms of newspapers anytime of the day on their computers through internet. Print media thus has a presence online, and the thin dividing line between print and electronic media has become blurred.
