REVISION OF FORMULAE

1. Standard form of sinusoidally varying voltage

e = Em sin ωt (or) v = Vm sin ωt

2. em = ωNϕm

Where, em = Maximum emf in volts

ω = angular frequency in rad/sec.

N = No of turns of the coil

ϕm = maximum flux in webers

3. ω = 2IIf = 2 II/T

Where ω = Angular velocity in rad / sec

f = Frequency in Hz or cps

T = Time period in sec.

4. RMS value of an alternating current I =

5. RMS value of an alternating

voltage

6. For a sinusoidal varying quantity,

RMS value or effective value or virtual value = (1/√2) × Maximum value

= 0.707 Maximum value

7. For regular shape of waveforms, say current wave form

8. For irregular shape of waveforms

9. For regular shape of waveforms

10. Form factor K= RMS value / Average value.

11. Peak factor (Ka) = Peak value / RMS value.
