SINUSOIDAL ALTERNATING QUANTITY
An
alternating quantity which varies according to sine of the angle 0 is known as
sinusoidal alternating quantity.
All
over the world sinusoidal voltages and currents are selected for generation of
electrical power. The following are the reasons:
(a)
The sinusoidal voltage and currents produce low iron and copper losses in AC
rotating machines and transformers. It improves the efficiency of AC machines.
(b)
Sinusoidal voltage and current will offer less interference to nearby telephone
lines.
(c)
They produce less disturbance in the electrical circuit.
