TERMS
OF REFERENCE:
As
required by the Marketing Manager, a survey has been made by the Scooty DS
Project Team on the preferences of youth to use two wheelers as a mode of
transportation. Findings and recommendations are included in this survey
report.
PROCEDURE:
A
team of members from TVS Lucas, Padi company went to ten Engineering Colleges
and Arts and Science Colleges. A team of three employees was sent to one
engineering college. They distributed the data sheet to be filled in. The
students from various departments and various courses both UG as well as PG
completed their data sheets and submitted to the employees. The datasheet had a
provision for the students to write their expectation as far as the two
wheelers are concerned.
FINDINGS:
From
the particulars filled in the data sheets, the following findings are arrived
at: 90% of the students feel that having two wheelers is a necessity.
5%
of the students feel that it is a luxury not a necessity.
3%
of the students that they cannot afford to buy a two wheelers.
1%
of the students are afraid to use two wheelers because of accidents.
1%
of the students prefer public transport not owning two wheelers because of
their responsibility towards environment.
CONCLUSION:
From
the survey it is concluded that the youngsters prefer two wheelers especially
the bikes with many extra features like good mileage given vehicles, stroke
system, brake system, suspension system and the external look. The girls prefer
light weight vehicles with durability and good look. The girls prefer Activa
Honda or Dio models. There is competition only between CBR bikes and Pulsar and
as far as Ladies two wheelers are concerned, there is competition between TVS
scooties and Honda Activa.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
If
the following features are added, the forthcoming model of our company will hit
the market and supersede all top models which are capturing the market now.
The
vehicle should give good mileage. Suspension system should be strong.
Durability should be there.
The
vehicle should be safe and not easily hit and broken. It should be eco
friendly.
It
can be driven both by petrol or by chargeable battery or solar battery.
