Telephone interview is conducted to check whether the candidate is suitable for a particular post. It is a data collection method from the interviewee. The interviewer communicates with the respondent over the telephone in accordance with the prepared questionnaire. Usually, standardized questionnaires with closed-ended questions are recommended for this kind of interview.


How to Prepare for a Phone Interview

1. Confirm the details regarding your scheduled phone interview.

2. Do your homework prior to two or three days.

3. Find a quiet spot to attend the Interview and choose a place where you get signals for phone.

4. Research Common Interview questions. Be prepared with the answers.

5. Be Prepared to ask thoughtful questions. Be prepared with impressive replies.

6. Practice Mock Interviews.

7. Plan for Worst-Case Scenarios.

8. Consider it a real interview, give importance and attend.

9. Don't be nervous if unexpected question is asked.

10. Reply to all the questions confidently.

2. Don't smoke, chew gum, eat, or drink. Show respectful gesture.

3. Do keep a glass of water handy, in case you want.

4. Do smile, keep eye contact though it is not face to face interview.

5. Do focus, listen, and enunciate. Don't answer without interest or with negligent attitude.

6. Don't interrupt the interviewer.

7. Do take your time. Think over the answer and respond but don't take long time to think.

8. Do take notes when the interviewer says something important or easily forgettable.
