Q. 5 State the condition for maximum efficiency and current at maximum efficiency for a d.c. machine. [Refer sections 5.3.1 and 5.3.2] AU : May-04, 07

Q. 6 What are the losses occurring in a d.c. machine?[Refer section 5.2]

AU: May-09, Dec.-09

Q.7 Explain why Swinburne's test cannot be performed on d.c. series motor.

AU: Dec.-14

Sol. : The Swinburne's test is a no load test. On no load, d.c series motor runs at dangerously high speed and may get damaged. Hence no load condition can not be achieved on d.c. series motor for testing purpose. Thus the Swinburne's test can not be performed on d.c. series motor.
