Active
Elements
An
independent source which can deliver or absorb energy continuously is called an
active element. Figure 1.5 shows an independent voltage source.
The
voltage of the ideal source is assumed to be independent of the current in the
circuit.
An
independent current source is shown in Figure 1.6. The current supplied by an
ideal current source is independent of the circuit voltage.
Passive
Elements
Elements
like resistor, inductor and capacitor are called passive elements. These are
described in chapter 1.3.
