The comparison between indoor and
outdoor substations is as follows.
It can be seen that each type of
substation has its own advantages and limitations. The choice between the two
is to be done by having comparative economics. The cost is an important factor
in restricting the use of indoor substations. But sometimes non-economic
factors are also considered such as public safety. Generally most of the
substations are outdoor type and indoor type is erected where outdoor
construction is not practicable or prohibited by local laws.
